Roger, the uterus starts to go back to where it belongs as soon as 24 hours after giving birth. The typical wait time for me (after a c section) for getting the doctors ok to exercise is 6 weeks. So that being said for a natural childbirth I would assume its less, but it also depends on the person.

LOL Roger- good to know about the next to arrive, the dreaded "ankle-biter" eeekkk run for the hills!  :)

I, obviously, am not a medical expert, but I feel Morgaine's explanation is good.  I don't see how corset wearing would be any problem with the same thoughts in mind to listen to your body.  Just me personally, but I don't really feel like myself at least 3 months after childbirth but there are many things to take in to consideration, such as, getting up at all hours of the night with the wee one, healing, ect.  I probably wouldn't tightlace until after that 3-month time frame but that is just me and the way I feel.  Someone else could be totally different.

Morgaine's explanation makes sense, especially after a c-section, since there is big knife work involved. It is considered as major abdominal surgery. So I would avoid corsets and tightlacing for maybe another six weeks after that, to make sure that the scars, inside and out, are completely healed.

In the case of natural childbirth... I suppose it's when you feel up to it.
