Subject: Iris Norris Corsets
I am a fan of the late Iris Norris and after doing numerous searches have come to a dead end and was hoping someone could help me further.  I am looking for pics of the corsets she made.  Does anyone know of any photos on the net showing her craftsmanship?  I seem to remember there was a white corset on the site The right place, but when I go to search for it, I come up empty handed most likely due to the fact I do not speak German.  Any help finding more examples of Iris's corsets would be really wonderful.  Thanks for your help,

It's a real pity that Lady Azenath doesn't visit this forum anymore.
AFAIK she owns/owned at least one Iris Norris - a red one with really dramatic hip spring!
KEEP TIGHT!!!

Yes I also miss Lady Asenath she is not in any corsetgroups either to my knowledge.

Here at least some pictures of her Iris Norris corset she had more pics on her own page but it seems to be gone.  I think we have discussed Iris Norris corsets before in this forum but I may be wrong but maybe do a search in the old threads.

That is a beautiful red corset!  I think we did have a discussion on Iris Norris but I don't think it was on this forum but in a yahoo group in 2005 or something?  I have done multiple searches trying to find it but all I found was a few posts by me, about sewing flutes/gussets.  So maybe it was not a yahoo group?  I do remember there was a really helpful person by the name of Angela, I think, that also had Iris Norris corsets.  *sigh*  Dead ends are crappy.  Thanks for your help though.

Hi again- I saw the photo of Lady Asenath with Lacy in the sharing section and I was wondering if she made the black with red corset that she is wearing?  It does look similar to Iris Norris type and I was wishing I could get a better look at the flutes in the hips.  It looks like she has got them figured out on how to place them correctly if she was the one who made her corset.

I am having the darnist time trying to figure out how to get my flutes to work correctly and not look up and down.

Hi, I hope Asenath will turn up and answer the question herself but if I am not totally mistaken now she made the corset after the red Iris Norris corset she has.
This is some photos. If you click on the corset pic you can see two more.

This is a simplicity pattern but if I understand this right (correct me if I am wrong) it has the same type of gussets on it.

No idea if this pics is any help at all.

The Right Place claims that these two photos are of a Norris corset.

Personally, I think they look a bit askew. Perhaps it was a test fitting. Perhaps the corset is loosely laced.

Annalai- Thanks for the links.  I hope Asenath will make her way back here too.  The simplicity pattern has different gussets than Iris Norris.  I do ok with the up and down gussets but the Iris Norris gussets do this curving thing where both gussets seem to come toward each other making an half oval type shape around the hip area.  I have tried putting the gussets at an angle to achieve this affect but I haven't been able to get it right yet.  (You can see the hip gusset thing in the first link that Andy posted.)  Maybe I should look more into bust gussets because I think I see some similarities with the shape that those produce?

Thanks Andy for the link also.  I have been searching though the right place site because I remember seeing a white corset with black stitching years ago made by Iris Norris but I can't seem to find it anymore.  I have not seen this corset either and it does look like Iris Norris's gussets on the side but I have to agree with you it doesn't look like it is closed or something.

Thanks so much for your help you guys.  I really get happy to get something new to continue on with.  :)

I can't seem to get the video to work from the links or the site but I also have slow dial-up, (live in boonies and can't get high speed internet where I live), so maybe my dial-up is the problem?  Maybe I will try when I have better internet service.

Right-click on Andy's link and do "Save link as..." and just download it to your computer, then play it locally. It's about 13.5 megs, which should take about an hour to download, plus or minus, at the average connection speed of a 56k modem (40-45k most of the time).

Well, bad news.  After downloading it my computer told me that I cannot view the file because of some incompatibly issue with the way the file was compressed or something like that.  O' well.
