Subject: Suggestions on a good diet while corseted
I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a diet called macrobiotics?  It is a diet focused on organic/natural foods more like the eastern diet of veggies, grains, and small amounts of meat.  I was wondering if such a diet mostly consisting of rice, veggies would be a healthy diet while tightlacing?  I read somewhere that carbohydrates are good because they fill the intestine and that is suppose to be good while laced.  (I hope I remember that right.)  Anyway a diet filled with grains would not be lacking in the carb department but I am not sure if I should be considering anything else?

Any help on the subject matter of diet would be really helpful.  I plan to start a waist training/tightlacing regiment in a month or so.  I am trying to research everything the best I can.  Many thanks,

The type of diet you are talking about is more aimed towards a life style. Alot of the foods do cause gas as it is a detoxing system. It works very well btw. However if you enjoy food and prefer not to be gasy there are much better diets out there in my opinion. Not knocking it however like I said it does work. Lots of people with arthritis use it as it keeps the blood alkaline. I would advise looking into it more its a very strict diet. Think I am rambling now...

My experience has been, so far, that gassy foods are to be avoided, and foods which require more digestive power are to be reduced. I have stopped with pork, food cooked in onions, and beans. I have reduced red meats - they need a lot of digestive work - and increased my intake of white meats - chicken and fish. I have no trouble with either rice, pasta or potatos. And lots of vegetables. The key is balance.

You are right: keeping the intestines working is important when tightlacing.

Hi,

My suggestion is start eating from a smaller plate and follow the advice in this article.
http://www.waspcreations.com/diet.htm

I can not eat much rice and pasta before I feel stuffed but both of them are too easy to eat too much of. I do not really believe in a diet with lots of rice for a person who tightlace but it is only my own experience.

The macrobiotic diet is in fact just about the complete opposite of what one needs when tightlaced.
Macrobiotic food is generally high bulk and and quite low in nutrients per unit volume/mass.
This means that to get your full daily requirement of nutrients (particularly protein) the volume of food you need to eat is quite large.
When you are tightlaced you actually need to get your nutrients in a small volume of food - hence the need for foods that deliver high "concentrations" of essential nutrients.
For example there is more protein in a single bite of meat or fish than there is in a large bowl of brown rice and beans. When you're tightlaced the fish will fit in your reduced stomach, the rice & beans won't.
Most of the limited volume of a tightlaced stomach has to be available for your water requirement - which cannot be reduced.
KEEP TIGHT!!!

I understand what you are saying about the high bulk in a macrobiotic diet.  So to understand completely what you are saying and what others here have mentioned, small meals that pack a punch on the nutrients are the way to go.

So for another question, what would those foods be, "these nutrient packed foods?"  I know fish and chicken has been mentioned for protein.  Would veggies be another good choice?  Any recommendations in the grain department, I know the high carbs are good also.

Another thing I was wondering is if any of you take vitamin supplements such as a-one-a-day-vitamin?

Thanks for your help-

Yes, I take a big vitamin every day, but not especially because of corsets. Ever since I started taking one a day in late 2002, I have never had a cold or the flu since. Some may rant that it has nothing to do with it... well, it works for me. My dad got flu shots every year and he caught it every year too. So it's vitamins 6, flu shots 0.

And small, highly nutritious meals are the way to go.
