Hi,

Have you read Albert's Avenue at all? You can find the information about the thickness and how my corsets is made on edition 8.
http://www.staylace.com/albertcst/index8.html

The corsets Albert makes are all handsewn the red X you see is the stitches and on the inside the corset is lined so I do not feel the stitches and yes they have stays very stiff one so they are preshaped read more about it on edition 8.

I sleep in the same corset I wear at daytime the cream leather corset with red stitches and  red laces. Only looses the laces a little and sometimes not at all.

If You are interested I suggest you start reading on edition 1 to 9 and you will find information how Albert makes the corsets and about the material he uses and information about my and others corsetwearing etc.

Kind regards,
Annalai

Hello Analai (and silent forum members).

Yep, I did read some of it there but it seemed mostly about your experiences and alterations etc. I have to admit that after the the first editions, I mostly looked at the nice pictures of you, Lacie and others :-)

I just read it again but still can't see what type and how thick the leather is. He mentions "very stiff" but that is no indication either.

The overall corset is mentioned as being 3mm thick but that includes lining. How thick is the lining and is that soft garment leather?

Are the 15mm stays from hardened spring steel of flat bar mild steel stock?

Hey, if we don't discuss anything here, we won't need a Forum :-)

Regards
Ben

Hello,

Well I have not seen my corset being made nor do I know everything about the making. I guess most people does not know exactly how their corsets was made. I have asked Albert and the leather is 1.5 mm (1/16 inch) thick and the steel is hardened spring steel. It is not possible for me to bend it by hand or body the steel is preshaped.

I really do not know how to compare the cream leather with anything else maybe it is close to the thick leather in winterboots and the lining is very thin soft  leather.
Here is a picture of the corset itself and if you make it bigger you can see the edges in the back giving you a clue about how it looks like.

Dear Annalai.

Let me tell you that your Albert corsets are very nice. They have somthing about them that is way beyond average. I am intrigued and I have been thinking what it would be like to wear one.

I cannot judge how comfortable such a corset would be, compared to a material one, as it has absolutely no give and seems shaped quite differently. The look is exquisite!!

As I have tried in the past to make my own corset, I can only say that I take my hat off to Albert!

Do you think I could ask him a few questions about the details directly?

Kind regards
Ben

Hi,

I am still here and if you look around  in the forum you will see others posting other things as well.
It is just I do not have much more to add to this. For me it is comfortable to wear a stiff leathercorset and I like the feeling others may not.

You must write to Albert and ask him if he can answers your question it is something I can not know.

You can email Albert directly.  I did and he was most helpful in answering any question I put to him.   He is a lovely fellow to communicate with.

Hey Ben,

The only time I've ever had any of the symptoms you describe was when I was training with an off-the-rack Vollers underbust, after a long absence from tightlacing. Specifically, I had back pain during the day (while not corsetted - I usually only train at night), nausea and indigestion, as well as some really severe hotspots and attendant bruising/scabby skin. It's definitely not very encouraging!

Since switching to all C&S corsets, I haven't experienced any of these problems (only mild intestinal discomfort if I eat too much for dinner, easily remedied by loosening the laces).  As you were wearing properly made custom corsets, perhaps your anatomy is contributing to the problem? Like, maybe your esophagus is smaller, or your back is predisposed to rigidity? I hope your problems resolve - they sound uncomfortable!

As for what I wear at night, I usually sleep in a basic C&S underbust, but if I am preparing for an event, I will sleep in the corset I intend to wear, to break it in.

I agree with Tara - Annalai totally deserves her title of offiicial corset goddess. She is an inspiration to all of us!
