Subject: Another fresh fish... :)
Hello everyone! My name's layne... just wanted to drop a line and get introduced here. This is quite a site! I've read up on a lot of things here already and I'm rather impressed. So a little bit about me and my plans perhaps...

I'm a 21-year-old genetic male who's basically transgender or whatever foolish title has been put on it at the moment... I've owned several over-the-counter corsets that I enjoy but give me significant pain if worn for more than a day or so. I am extremely active and yet still hopeful that I can balance my activities with corset training. I've recently purchased an underbust training corset (looks almost victorian or hourglass in shape) from www.meschantes.com. It's a custom corset, cotton, made specifically for waist training. I ordered it at the beginning of October and expect it sometime next month, so I will let you know of its functionality. I have several slight concerns about training though...

Ideally, I would like to be in a corset 23/7. I am extremely busy though and my body is heavily taxed almost daily. I'm a full-time student which isn't so bad, but my livelihood is my full-time job as a line cook for a restaurant... this job is demanding. Constant motion, heat, lots of crouching forwards or bending over... So that might create a serious issue with going 23/7. My goal with training is to shrink the lower ribcage a bit and get a 6 inch reduction or so to the waist... I understand moving the floating ribs takes inordinate amounts of time and I'm definitely willing to work towards that. My concern is that if I find it utterly necessary to remove the corset for work every time, will my 35 hours a week outside of the corset hinder my attempts at serious waist reduction and rib displacement? And if I find the corset unwearable at work and it is shown that not wearing it for that time period would be detrimental for my waist training, is there another option in regards to something that could be worn while working that's more flexible yet still trains me down? Issues, issues, issues...  :-/

Essentially, my current plan is to get the corset, break it in gradually, and then start really going for it. Once it's broken in and I'm comfortable with my level of lacing (I'm going to be going at this solo) then I'll give it a shot at work. I am rather concerned about being functional at all at work with it...

That's the basics of me, the very basics. I don't have many good pics of me at all but I can throw on the leather corset I have now and beg a friend to take some... :) That way I'll have something for this site. Basically I'm just looking for some advice, tips, thoughts, whatever right now as to how I should approach blending this in within my lifestyle! Thanks, everyone!

Hi and welcome,

I am a 23/7 tightlacer since several years but I started with wearing a belt under my clothes first while I was waiting for my custom made corset to arrive and after during nights and every time I could not wear my corset for some reason. It exist special corsetbelts but I just took a wide leatherbelt I had at home and made new holes in it when needed and it was often.
Here is an article about starting tightlacing with a belt.

A belt will and should of course not constrict your ribs at all it should just fit between your hip and ribs if you try this.

Read this about the company you order your corset from.  Do also look at the links given in the middle.

Annalai,

Thank you for making me aware of that... though I must say I'm somewhat disturbed now! By the way, I read the articles on this site regarding your experiences and I must say that you are a true guiding light for the tightlacing world.

I will keep you informed on how things turn out with delivery time and product quality... in the meantime, perhaps I should be looking at other corset makers. I am a young college student and therefore not rich, but I would be willing to purchase for $4-600 dollars. The one I ordered from meschantes was only about 200, which did surprise me... I guess you get what you pay for. Crossing my fingers...

Regarding waist belts... I have a small waist cincher right now but it rides over the hips a bit. I'm guessing a more functional belt would be one that purely sits between the ribs and waist. Would you by chance know of a place that sells them intended for that purpose? I really appreciate the help!

Hi,

I hope it turns out well with your corset.

This two places I know has trainingbelts but right now wide leatherbelts for women are in fashion so maybe you can find a much less expensive  but still effective belt in clothesstores.
