Subject: Modifying a "standard" pattern to make a tightlacing corset
What changes need to be made to a pattern such as the Simplicity 9769 to make a corset robust enough for tightlacing?
Is this "everything included" kit from Venacava Design a good place to start?

I personally don't buy the "kits".  If the one who will wear the corset is taller or shorter than what the pattern is designed for then the bones you got won't work well.

it isn't the pattern that determines if a corset is for tightlacing it is how it is constructed that matters.  It has to be strong, sturdy, well boned, good laces, custom fit.

so for that pattern each piece should be measured and the total compared against those of the one who will wear the corset.  You have to measure from the waist up and waist down in the front, back and sides as well as all the other easurements.

Do not trust what the pattern says it will fit....it will be too big.
