Subject: Altitude
I've recently moved from sea level in England to over 9000 feet (2700m) in New Mexico. Though I've been up here for about 3 months now, I'm still finding it hard to wear a corset for any length of time. Does anyone else have any experience in corsetting at high altitude, and if so do you have any advice?

I think a pair of stays is better as corset in the mountain, like the Swiss national costume. As you can breath both in chest and belly at the same time.

Note as a rucksack prevent the breathing in the chest. Substitute shoulder-band by headband like the carriers of Nepal.

Give yourself some time to acclimatize to the altitude. Although the percentage of oxygen in the air is the same, there are fewer oxygen molecules per breath. The normal initial reaction is to breathe more deeply and more frequently. Corseting limits the depth of the breath.

It takes the body some time to adapt, in the form of more red blood cells in the bloodstream to move oxygen more efficiently. Initial acclimatization takes several days, but I believe full adaptation takes several months.
