Woo hoo!--  it finally arrived. Fits well, looks sturdy, and is very comfortable.

Made by Sharon McCoy Morgan, it's a Bella underbust in white cotton.

I'm just breaking it in, so I haven't worn it for very long, nor very tightly.

Hello,

My name is Kristen, I have joined due to an email sent on a Yahoo group that I am not sure was intended to advertise this group, but did nonetheless (email is pasted in at the bottom for anyone curious as to what i mean).

I have been interested in corsets most of my life and wore them a bit in my teenage years, but only started wearing them daily about 3 years ago, and 23/7 for about 2 years now. I seem to be particularly hard on my corsets and have had a few bumps along the way, so I am glad to have access to the wealth of information here and to converse with so many knowledgeable people.

Thanks for having me, k

Before they left the wonderful Yahoo! group Corset College, the
Yahoo! group Corset College was a great group, perhaps one of the
best on Yahoo! groups.

Corset College and a Yahoo! corset-group with the same name? Well it
is better to see that with your own eyes:

Well, I have "seen with my own eyes" and much prefer this forum. Thanks again, k

Welcome to the forum, Mrs K / Kristen!  :-)

I don't really know what the brouhaha is about, but it seems that whoever sent that email is somewhat purposefully making a mountain out of a mole hill, i.e. taking a lull in activity out of context and turning it into an "Aha! See? I told you so!" thing. Very petty in my opinion. :-/

You make the right choice by joining us. Since I joined last November, I have found a wealth of information, technical and otherwise, that has enhanced my tightlacing practice considerably. I'm sure you'll find the Corset College just as enlightening.

Jennifer.

I suspect that the lack of conversation on this forum is due to the fact that it is used more as a resource than as a social group, and as such people only tend to post when they have something to say, or they want to know something.

Which combined with the fairly low membership makes the traffic here fairly slow...

Welcome to the Corset College Kristen.

So "Tara" wants to play the inuendo game - well I'm not scared of him!

"Tara" - not his real name (or gender) - has a problem with any corsetry related site that he doesn't control.
His specific issue with this site - he was banned for promoting forced tightlacing of minors.
Even before that happened many of the regulars here were quite irritated by his posts containing bad (even dangerous) advice and just plain wrong information.

Why Corset College left Yahoo Groups?
The answer is quite simple: The spam became unmanagable and the format of Yahoo Groups is not as flexible as I like: The multi-section format we have here is much better.

About the level of activity:
I think a forum with a few high quality posts by a few dozen friends is superior to a constant stream of mostly rubbish from thousands of "anonymous" posters.

Another small detail to note: "Tara" created the "Corset Academy" as a direct "copy" of the Corset College after he was challenged about some or other rubbish he posted on the CC Yahoo Group - an incident that "ruined a beautiful friendship"
LMAO!!!

I note that he still visits this site and reads our posts. Its been years since I last looked at any of his Yahoo Groups.
LMAO again!
KEEP TIGHT!!!

Subject: Introducing myself
Hi, Please call me Dorothy.

I thought I had already found all the corset sites.
And I have just found you.
Oh, JOY !!!!!!!
But why did I have to wait for so long ?

I first became interested in corsets at age ten.
That would be way back in 1937.

I suffered many setbacks and frustrations,
because, in those days, corsets were definitely not a "Man" thing,
and I met with considerable resistance.

But I am a very determined sort of guy.

I think my first successful corset purchase would be in 1948,
just after the "New Look" era.

An Excelsior 'off the rack.'
What we would now call an 'Underbust' style.
Pink, with flat steel boning.
Front busk/clasp and underbusk. Back lacing.
Very weak grey metal lace eyelets,
which became distorted and elongated as soon as you applied any pressure to the laces.
But it did reduce my waist considerably.

If you want the full story about me, you might like to try.......

www,storysite.org.
Scroll down and click on 'Enter.'
Look left and click on 'Search for a Story.'
Scroll down to 'Story title search.'
Click on 'D'
Scroll down to 'Dorothy was Different,'
Click on 'O.Y. Dalziel.'
Click on the first chapter, and then you are on your own.
Enjoy.

The first few chapters will give you all the true facts about me.
But after I introduce Dorothy, it all becomes fantasy.

Ho hum.
That's life - I guess.

If I knew how to download pics to this site, I could give you some more info.
I am not very good on this computer thing.
Instructions, please.

Dorothy.

Thank you, Roy.

It is very pleasant to find myself among friends, after so many years of going it alone.

I spent much of today searching the site, and discovering who is who, and what is what.

I have had a very pleasant day.

Thank you again.
Dorothy.
