Subject: Male Corsetry, an overlooked item
All over the web you'll find lots and lots of corsetmakers offering a wide range of styles. And on mosts sites you'll find womens corset mainly, sometimes a few male specific models but those are mostly a minority. Even Amsterdam based JC Creations, who offer 6 male corsets, have the corsets displayed on a female model.

Male corsetry is an overlooked item. People tend to think that corsets are worn only women and nowadays by some perverted males. If you browse around the web and dig a bit into the history of corsets you'll find that males have worn corsets throughout the past centuries. In the "good ol'e" tmeschildren, boys and girls, where put in simple corsets to promote a good body posture. As where girls continued the lacing, with boys it stopped when they hit puberty.

Most of the times that is. I read articles and seen pictures of corsets being part of military uniforms for officers. And every once in a while you'll find somthing about men wearing a corset like garment to hide their expanding tummy. These testimonials mostely date back from a time before we where working out, doing body pump, Tae-Bo. And even before we had special saunabelts and electrical muscle stimulators sold on Homeshopping TV.

But why are we ignoring males who just want to correct their posture a bit by wearing corsets in the modern days? In any store that offers custom made corsets you'll hear that they serve males too. Those guys are not only kinksters and crossdressers, but regular blokes that see advantages in corsets. And why should they not? Why is male corsetry overlooked in the public opinion? Apparently even we, the Dutch, who like to think of them selves as open minded have reservations about this subject...

In victorian times, and perhaps even before that, male corsets were affordable for the elite of the elite. They were worn underneath the clothing, to make sure that the male of standard had the perfect posture and figure. Even in holland, during the trading time when India was still a Dutch collonie the Dutch traders used to wear indian high top suits over a posture corset.

I'm guessing why this item is so overlooked is because males wore them underneath everything, (I know females did to, but you know what I mean)

It kinda grew out of the lights.. and thus males wearing corsets OVER their clothing is still a bit getting used to.

I've had male customers in the past, and they wear them over their clothing as well.. some find it very nice, elegant, fancy, others find it disturbing.

But the wearer loves the look of it, and in the end that's all that matter

Male corsetry is an overlooked item.

Male have stiff ribs compared with female, and have need of shoulder-corset permanent. But any can make shoulder-corset today. Se Invicorator corsets in images.

Well that's more or less the thing I'm thinking of. Less extreme however and with a more modern look. But the idea is present.

Alternative is a Shoulder-Brace

It give a good posture and broad chest.

I think the back of this corset is better as the back of the  shoulder-brace

by reading I missed one little aspect. It is, that men are wearing female corsets too. And I think, most of the men, wearing corsets wont show it to everyone, just because of the voice of the people. Today it is not 'normal' for a man, to wear a corset. That might also be a reason, that corsetsellers don't have that large content of male-corsets. I've a female corset too.

One of the problems with men wearing corsets today is that there are few corsets availlable for men. Women are simply shaped differently than men (something I appreciate greatly), and a corset shaped for a woman will not generally fit a man properly. A man's waist is lower than a woman's, and a woman's hips are much wider than a man's. The relative widths of their shoulders, chests, and hips are different: a man's chest and hips are usually about the same width with wider shoulders, while a woman's shoulders and hips are about the same width with a narrower chest.

I know there are a few places that sell corsets specifically designed for men, but I have no first-hand experience with them to offer.

If you happen to have the correct body you can wear a normal women's underbust with ease. But most men are shaped a bit diffrent, besides not all want to have a feminine body shape.

Ingrid/Graywolf made me a custom corset, which you can see here: http://corsetcollege.co.funpic.de/viewtopic.php?t=151 The people I've shown it where pretty enthousastic about it. They all liked the look.

By the way, yesterday I'v worn it for an extended period of time. On a little trip to Amsterdam to meet some friends. All together I've had it wrapped wrapped around me for about 9 hours. However I needed to loosen the laces in the early evening because I wasn't feeling very well. That had nothing to do with the corset, just one of those headeaches i have that come with un-well feeling in teh stomach.

In general it is pretty comfortable to wear the corset, but you are reminded of it all day long especially when sitting down and getting up again. And i have to admit it's a little more exhausting then I expected.

I've always stood by custom made ones.. for both female AND male. Everyone is unique.. both in attitude and such as in body. The torso's vary so much from eachother that I can't recommend any off-the-rack corsets to anyone. To accentuate ones own body perfectly (be it slightly or tight-lace) you'll need something made to measure

Why are there so few posts from men who like to be corseted? I would like other men who enjoy being laced to get in touch with me.
