Subject: Tieing the knot
Unfortunately I have no signifcant other to lace me in and tie the laces. So I have to do it all by myself, now I'm wondering if anyone knows a simple sturdy knot that is easily tied behind your back. Currently I use the same conventional knot I tie my shoelaces in, but that requires doining it three or four times to get it right.

I do the conventional bow, make the loops as long as the tails then braid them and tuck them under the edge of the corset, or put a pony tail holder on them and let them hang.

I use the same knot like Miss Tori; the conventional bow is good and doesn't easily slip off. But it helps *not* to look in the mirror when tying, and not to concentrate too hard. ;) To get it beautiful, I tried to secure the first knot with a strip of clingfilm (that right? Tesafilm in German), but by now it works without that.

Ah bummer... I was hoping on a revolutionary ultra easy knot that I could be tied easily behind your back. Ah well I get by with my normal loop&tail shoelace knot. But Miss Tori where do you place the ponytail holder? at the base of the knot or lower down on the loops/tails?

when I braid them I put it at the bottom of the laces, as I would my hair when I braid it.  remember PATIENTS and PRACTICE

I'll practice my lace tieingskills then. ;) I'm a little handicapped with bad fine motorskills, but I'll manage.

Good luck with the practice.

I use a simple knot and bow with mine, took me a while to get it right. I always seemed to be looping the wrong bit through and dropping the bow. Quite frustrating. I found the best practice was on a simple kitchen apron...  Sounds odd I know but the technique is the same and as the apron uses a larger ribbon it was easier to practice with. BTW, I know it is like to lose some dexterity in a hand. I broke the thumb and dislocated the wrist on my right hand after coming off my mountain bike. Even 4 years after it is still stiff and not as motile as it used to be.

I know it's been over year, but here's my two cents:

Any knot you tie behind your back is going to be hard to tie without practice. I also do the simple bow and go exclusively by feel. It is about the simplest knot there is that is secure and can be easily undone. It's exactly like tying shoelaces without looking. Practice that. And if you can manage that, tying that knot behind your back should be a breeze.

Miss Tori, great idea about braiding the laces!
