Subject: speedtrain?
hi there
I just had some questions.
I've been wearing corsets for a while now, but not really meant for tightlacing (decided to wait a while with that) I wear strong and solid corsets with the proper steel boning and waist band, but not all day long, once or twice a week. and this realy started a month or 5 ago. before that i just wore them once a while. When I started wearing these corsets I had to buy corsets of 26 -28 inch.
Now I already have 22 inch. And even now I keep getting smaller. A month ago the gap on my back of a 22 inch corset was about half of my back. Now i'm already able to close it entirely.

I don't realy get it, since it's not my intention of reducing my waist. I do not train and I do certainly not wair the corsets all day long. Is it supposed to go that fast? or is there something wrong with me?
it's only been 5 months, and I'm not on a diet so that can't explain it either.

Is there something wrong with me? Am I doing anything i'm not supposed to do, or does it just go that fast?
It's realy frustrating. The corset I bought a month ago, finaly arrived from england. And now it's already to big for me.

plz give me answers :)

I doubt there is anything wrong. If there was, you would feel it.

I would probably chalk that up to your age - you're still quite flexible and "squishy" as Lilmizcheezcake would say. Then there are people who are much more compressible than others. Your body is also changing and you're developing the curves of a full-grown woman (not forgetting that people grow and fill out differently). So even if your intent is not to train your waist, your body is still easily getting accustomed to being encased in a corset. How has your natural (uncorsetted) waist changed? Have your other measurements remained more or less the same?

When I started waist training at the beginning of 2006, I was also reducing very quickly despite the fact that I wasn't wearing the corset for more than a few hours a day - in fact it wasn't until about six or seven weeks after I started training that I could even sleep overnight in one. I had also decided to diet and was losing about 5 lbs per month, which is not your case here. By the time six months had passed, I was already into my third corset. Fortunately I make my own, so the costs are considerably reduced.

without a corset on , my waist is still allot smaller then it used to be. And so is my lower chest area (but that's not very noticable) I do notice that i have pains in the lower part of my chest. And sometimes trouble with breathing (when I'm not wearing a corset, that is) Sometimes i get these painfull spikes (don't know the right word, but like  a  fast pain) there. I already had two infected bones and fainted once becuz suddenly i couldn't breathe. Is this because of the corsets? I think it's not, but i want to be sure.

I highly doubt it, but my mom keeps screaming it's because of the corsets...

The pain is new information. That changes a lot of things. And stopping breathing is not a good sign. It may be a sign of something else, like asthma or something like that, but you never know.

In that case I suggest you hold off on the corsets for a while, just to see how it evolves. If there is pain, and only since you started wearing corsets, it may be connected. The only way to know for sure is to stop for while. If it does subside, I would suggest you cease completely until you're older and your figure has filled out and you've stopped growing completely.

It might be a little off topic, but when I was younger I craved peanut butter. I also had a big problem with acne. My mom told me to stop eating peanut butter. My face cleared up within a couple of weeks. So....

Be careful, and take care of yourself. Listen to your body.

Hi,

I do agree with Jennifer take a break and do not wear your corset for some time and see how your body reacts.

How does the corsets fit you? Is it custom made or not?
Do you have any sore spots and the corsets press hard on some ribs?
Getting swelling around the ribs and finally an infection can be from heavy pressure from an illfitting corset or for lacing too tight too fast. So yes it may come from your corset.

Having some slight pain more like an uncomfortable feeling only when you remove you corset is possible and not dangerous but should faint away and not getting worse. It is just from the different pressure. But the fast painful strikes I can not explain and maybe you should visit a doctor to do a check up to see everything is fine.

When you fainted was you laced into your corset if so I would say it was too tight or too fast laced in.

But yes for most people the reduction the first months goes very fast if you wear your corset often and you soon will need a slighty smaller corset. But you are still very young and need to let your body grow a bit more before training I think.

eum well let me explain this a bit more to you guys.
I do not have astma or any other lung condition. the reason I fainted was becuz every time I inhaled I felt pain like as if my ribs were poking in my lungs, that way I couldn't inhale deep enough and by a lack of oxigen I got dizzy and fell over. This did not happen while cariing a corset or neither was a result of lacing in too tightly as it was in the beginning of my passion for corsets

the other 2 infected ribs happened later on and again it did not happen while wearing a corset. i already have been to a doctor for this, who told my it 'll probably happen more because I had it once.

and yes I did loose weight in the beginning but this was before I wore the strong and more expensive steel boned corsets. Now i'm just slowly loosing weight.

I do not feel any sore spots while wearing a corset so that's why i don't think corsets are the problem

I don't wear corsets often aswell. I wear them a few hours 2 days a week. or sometimes a whole day when I go to an event. and these corsets aren't custome made I'm afraid. However when lacing up I do feel a certain weird pressure on my lower ribs, but I do not feel caged in any way. I am still as free as I am without a corset and I can breathe perfectly.

I don't have any blue marks or bruises from the corset, I never had, not even when I had the infected ribs.

so I realy have no Idea where the problem comes from and I stil doubt it's from the corset.
I just want to be sure :)

To know if it is connected to the corset or not the only way to know this for sure is to hold off for maybe 2 month to see how your body reacts. A couple of month is not much when it is about your health and see if the problem goes away or not.
I am not a doctor and maybe you should try to write to Staylace and see if your question can be answered by their medical doctor.  They have a medical section you can look at.

In the beginning I got swelling around my ribs twice and was sore and had to hold up with my corset for some days to let the swelling go away so it would not go to a deeper infection. I had no sign on the outside except for the soreness and some sligth pain no bruises no blue marks etc. but for me it was clearly corset related and went away when I stopped lacing for a couple of days and when I started again I was very careful and laced not as much and slowly building it up again and yet my corsets was custom made. I only include this to make it clear you do not need any sign on the outside on the skin if things is happening on the inside because of the pressure from the corset.

Now the picture is getting a little bit clearer.

I had this kind of pain in the chest on two occasions.

The first time it happened, I was in a place where the air conditioning was turned up very high. I was there a whole day, spending a lot of time in cold drafts, and the next day I had a very bad stabbing pain in my chest, just below the bust, every time I breathed in. That pain was in a band all the way around the chest and it felt like total hell. That lasted several days - I got very little sleep and couldn't do much activity. The doctor told me that from that point, I would have to watch out because it would be very sensitive to the same conditions. Something my mother confirmed (she was very wise...).

The second time was with a new corset I had made - number three in my waist training. I started wearing it about six months after I started waist training, and about a month later I started having increasing pain in my lower ribs, localized in front, in two places about three inches to either side of the busk. There were two tender red marks in those places. It eventually got too much and I switched back to the previous corset for three weeks or so, until the pain and the red marks subsided. Then I gradually worked back to the new corset, first for a few hours in the evening, going back to the old one for the night, eventually wearing the new one full time. Since then I have had no trouble. So in order to advance forward, I had to take a step backward.

Those tender marks were inflammations, and those could become infected if not allowed to heal properly.

The fact that you only wear a corset occasionally leaves me perplexed. That would tend to confirm your hypothesis about it being unrelated to the corset, but I would still make a "control experiment" to at least have a base of comparison, i.e. corset vs. no corset. That would solidly prove it either way, and it would also give your body time to heal from whatever gave you the pain (unless that has happened already - I don't have a clear time line for this so I'm guessing). Even if it was unrelated to the corset, it would be wise to avoid putting pressure on it. It's a bit like a sprained ankle - one avoids putting weight on it.

The more information you have, the better it is to make an informed decision.

Take care.

thank you guys for all your help :)
the ribs are already healed but it's a fragile point ever since. I still have chest pains  now and then
but i thik it's not corset related. i'll let you guys know if there is a further progression of the pain, might I notice it realy is due to the corset.

I feel a bit more relaxed about this issue now I have discussed it with you guys :)
so thanks :)

Good to know that it's healed (or in the process of doing so) already. You had me terribly worried.

aww don't worry hun
I can manage just fine. There are worse things happening to me than a short breathe ;)
besides even if it was due to the corsets, it would be worth it.

I don't know how you guys feel about it, or what your reason is for wearing one.
But my corset is my personal peptalker. Always cheers me up.
It's my personal shield for all the shit that happends to and around me.
and I just love the feeling of a hugging corset

and yes ofcurs it make me feel pretty ^^ :D

Oh, yes... the first time I put one on was a revelation. I feel awkward, almost naked, without one. It is a very secure feeling to be laced into a tight corset.

Definitely, and not just feeling pretty, looking pretty too.  ;-)

Since I have started, I have also noted that it helps with posture, back support and bust support. I no longer have my terrible back aches.

just an update:
i've forced myself not to wear a corset for a few weeks now.
I must say i find it hard not to. I kinda miss the feeling.
But as said I would stop lacing myself in for some time, to check how the situation would be with my ribs.
I must say during this period i didn't realy had any pain in my ribs anymore,
but I don't know if this is due to not wearing a corset, or if it just simply healed.

Anyways I find the non-corset period long enough, so i'll start wearing one again.
If my ribs start to hurt again, atleast then I know what is causing it.
-i'm kind of nerveous thou- I  just keep telling myself it's not the corset. I just hope i'm right

don't know what to do if it turns out it was the corset

In any case, you did the right thing. Your body has to heal from whatever problem you had, regardless of the cause. The inflammations I had were caused by my new (at the time) corset, so I willingly delayed my progress so I wouldn't worsen the situation. I have no regrets, even if at the time it was frustrating.

I wouldn't worry too much about the final outcome. Even if it is due to the corset, it may just be because you haven't finished growing yet. I mean sideways. When I was your age, I was one of those long, gangly teens, thin as a string bean. But by the time I turned 18, I had gained a couple of inches around the chest (and hips), even if I didn't grow any taller.

Be patient, be strong.
